Miki Shibata, MS, CCC-SLP

Miki realized her passion for the adult and young adult population early in her graduate schooling at Teachers College, Columbia University. This drove her to pursue externships at top hospitals New York Presbyterian Weill Cornell Medical Center and Mount Sinai Hospital. After moving into the DC metro area, she completed her Clinical Fellowship at a Subacute Rehabilitation center that specializes in tracheostomized and mechanically ventilated patients. She has experience across a variety of treatment settings, including acute care hospitals, inpatient rehabilitation hospitals, skilled nursing facilities, and outpatient centers.

District Speech& Swallow Rehabはバイリンガル児の言語学習過程を根本として、アメリカで生活していて、日本語を使う子供・家庭のため、日本語対応OKな言語療法を提供しています。アメリカで生活を始めた時点でお子様はバイリンガル児としての道を歩み始めます。言葉の理解、喋りが遅れている；吃音症の心配がある；発音が幼稚などの悩みを第1言語（子供、家族が一番使っている言語）を使って解消していきながら、第2言語学習過程についての質問などもお答えしています。言語・喋りに遅れや問題があっても、お子様は十分にバイリンガルになれます！バイリンガル児は第1言語（家庭で喋る言語）と第2言語（社会・学校で喋る言語）でのサポートが必要です。
